Boundaries: what ControlAI does NOT do¶
An honest conversation about boundaries matters just as much as a list of capabilities: it guards against false expectations. Here is what ControlAI does not do (at least, not yet).
Does not yet distinguish students by name¶
Today the system understands how much students spoke, but not "which of them specifically." It does not attribute speech to a particular child by name.
This is not a dead end but the next big step: recognizing students by voice (Voice ID). Once it arrives, per-student personal reports, an individual student profile, and reports to parents all become possible. See the chapter «Roadmap» for details.
Does not monitor 24/7¶
ControlAI analyzes only scheduled lessons — specific lessons in specific classrooms. This is not continuous surveillance of a room, nor "tracking everyone all day."
Does not pass automatic judgment on a teacher¶
- Method-compliance scores come with a confidence level and an evidence quote; disputed items are flagged as "needs a human look."
- Decisions — about staff and methodology — are always made by a human: the academic manager or the owner. And whether every score is reviewed by a person before publishing is the center's own choice in the settings.
- The goal is to help the teacher grow, not to punish; there is no public "leaderboard."
Not an "ask anything about the video" tool¶
ControlAI recognizes specific signals (attendance, late arrivals, and over time — phone use and other signals). It is not an all-seeing AI you can ask any question about any second of the video: such an approach is unreliable, expensive, and unacceptable for children's privacy. We take the path of separate, validated signals rather than "magical omniscience."
Does not assess emotions or "engagement from faces"¶
Reading emotions or "interest" from students' faces is ethically questionable and unreliable, especially for children. We deliberately do not do this.
Does not work "live"¶
The report is ready about an hour after the lesson (not in real time). ControlAI is an analysis of a lesson that has already happened, not a live broadcast with annotations.
Depends on audio quality¶
All speech analytics relies on how well the lesson can be heard and on the quality of recognizing Uzbek-Russian speech — this is the product's main technical challenge. Where the audio is poor, accuracy drops; that is why audio quality is checked during onboarding and improved when needed.
A decision aid, not a replacement for humans¶
ControlAI shows where to look and what to improve. But the decisions — about staffing, methodology, or a specific student — remain with people. It is a tool that strengthens the academic manager and the owner, not one that replaces them.
Key takeaway from this chapter: ControlAI does not yet distinguish students by name, does not monitor around the clock, does not pass judgment on its own, does not answer "any question about the video," does not read emotions, and does not work live. It is a precise decision aid — but it is the human who decides. What of this will change in the future is covered in the next chapter.
